Laser Acne Treatment

ACCURE ACNE LASER

Acne affects about 85% of people at some point in their lives. Accure is a revolutionary laser therapy that effectively treats mild to severe facial acne without systemic side effects and without the use of prescription medications, creams, or lotions.

WHAT IS ACCURE?

Accure is a new treatment, utilizing a unique laser wavelength specifically for acne. The treatment safely and effectively denatures the sebaceous gland, reducing the production of sebum (oil). By normalizing the amount of oil produced, the appearance of facial or body acne is significantly improved.

HOW DOES ACCURE WORK?

Accure is a laser-based system that delivers light energy at a specific 1726nm wavelength that is absorbed by the sebaceous glands in the skin. Accure is one of today’s most precise light-based acne treatments; laser energy is only focused on targeted glands, while all other areas of the skin remain unaffected.

WHAT TYPE OF ACNE CAN BE TREATED WITH THE ACCURE LASER?

Accure is designed to treat facial acne vulgaris, the most common type of acne that includes whiteheads, blackheads, and inflamed or pus-filled bumps (“pimples”). Pores blocked by a combination of sebum, bacteria, and dead skin cells provide bacteria with an ideal environment to thrive. High bacterial levels then lead to inflammation. In some cases, the inflammatory response expands into surrounding pores and skin, causing nodules and cysts.

BENEFITS OF ACCURE LASER TREATMENTS FOR ACNE

The Accure laser system provides excellent results, minimizing acne in even the most severe of cases. In clinical trials, researchers reported a 73% decline in acne lesions after 2 treatments.

Other advantages of Accure compared to other acne treatment options include:

  • Non-invasive treatment with minimal pain
  • Minimal downtime (recovery time)
  • No need for additional medications
  • Fewer side effects compared to traditional topical and oral medication
  • Treatment safety for all skin types

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR ACCURE?

People who suffer from mild, moderate or severe acne vulgaris of the face are candidates for Accure treatment. The system can be used on adolescents and adults of any Fitzpatrick skin type.

HOW IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED?

The treatment begins with the application of a topical numbing cream to the treatment area to minimize treatment discomfort. The laser energy is administered from a handheld applicator in short pulses. Patients may feel a warm snapping sensation in the treatment area as the energy is delivered to the skin, similar to that of laser hair removal.

Accure treatments take between 20 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area and the intensity of the treatment settings.

Treatment regimen is customized to the individual patient, though most patients receive a series of 4 treatments. These sessions are typically spaced about a month apart to allow for the sebaceous glands to fully heal.

Accure is often used as a solo treatment, but may be used in conjunction with other acne treatment options including medications, topicals, or other in-office treatments.

IS THE ACCURE PAINFUL?

A topical numbing cream keeps most patients comfortable during the procedure. The most common sensation is a warm to hot snapping sensation on the skin as the laser is firing. Numbing injections, depending on the intensity of the treatment settings maybe helpful.

HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS FROM ACCURE TREATMENT?

Most patients will notice maximum acne clearance within 4-12 weeks of their final treatment, but results may be noticeable as early as 4 weeks after the first treatment. Results are not instant, as it takes time for the sebum glands to react to treatment and decrease oil production. However, Accure results are long-lasting as targeted sebum glands experience long-term reduction in oil production in response to treatment.
